Open Play, every day

Join in the fun…

Open Play Court Guidelines*:

➢ A court is open, no one is waiting and you want to play? Get out there and enjoy!
➢ Once you notice that there are paddles stacked for open play, finish your game and adjust to open-play rules and norms.
➢ Numbers are dwindling? Be flexible and adjust to what feels right.

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY:
Open Play (Paddle Stack) from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. on Courts 1 – 6 with courts 3 and 6 being Challenge Courts.

Paddle Stack: The central paddle stack is used for courts 1 & 2, and courts 4 & 5. Play will follow a 2-on-2-off format unless the paddle stack is longer than 6-8 paddles long at which time the format changes to 4-on-4-off. When the format is 2-on-2-off, players come off the court after 2 games.

Challenge Courts (3 and 6): Players begin play; winners stay on “king-of-the-court style.” New challengers (pairs of two) stack directly outside of the court they are waiting to challenge. Court 3 is a challenge court for the more beginning and intermediate levels and court 6 is a challenge court for the more advanced levels. Winners stay on the court for a maximum of three games, and then they must rotate back to the open play courts for their next game.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:
Open Play (Paddle Stack) from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. on courts 1 & 2, and 4 & 5. Courts 3 & 6 are for “design your group of 4.”

Paddle Stack: The central paddle stack is used for courts 1 & 2 and 4 & 5. Play will follow a 2-on-2-off format unless the paddle stack is longer than 6-8 paddles long at which time the format changes to 4-on-4-off. When the format is 2-on-2-off, players come off the court after 2 games.

Groups of Four: Courts **3 & 6: Players form groups of 4 who want to play together and stack paddles in those groups of four outside the court where they will play. After playing a game with the 4 players who decide to play together, all four come off to allow the next group of four on.

**Court 3: Saturday Lesson: Beginner lessons are held on court 3 each Saturday morning. This court becomes a 4-on-4-off, design-your-group court when the lesson ends.

BASIC CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Please be courteous on the courts, keep score, and announce it clearly before serving.
  • Each member is allowed 1 guest but please specify guest’s name, and rating in the notes.

*Evaluation period April 29 – May 27, 2024
